Additional playground equipment was installed at Heise Park in 2019. The toys have a construction theme in order to honor Galion's manufacturing industry, including pieces that look like a road grader and roller.
The playground is inclusive, or designed to allow people with physical and sensory disabilities to be able to play. It has a rubber safety surface that is soft enough to cushion falls, yet firm enough for wheelchairs and strollers to roll upon. The project cost was paid for using grant funding from the Egbert M. Freese Foundation, as well as the NatureWorks program offered through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
