Parks & Recreation

The City of Galion has several parks that provide a wide variety of recreational activities.  City-owned athletic fields and shelters are available for public use, subject to schedule availability.



Heise Park

Heise Park is located east of Portland Way North at 5 Heise Park Lane. It is home to the city's swimming pool which is managed by the Galion Community Center YMCA.  Admission information can be obtained by calling 419-468-7754.  


Heise Park also has three play areas and four shelters; the Frank, Lions and Kiwanis shelters can all be reserved for $25.  The high school football, baseball and softball fields, along with the coach pitch field, little league field, tennis courts, basketball court, sand volleyball pit and horseshoes can all be found here as well.  The high school baseball field is also home to the Galion Graders wood bat league team.

East Park

East Park is home to the city's new sprayground. There are two shelters that are open for reservations for $25, along with an enclosed cabin, which can be rented for $55. Our only skate park is located here, along with a softball field, basketball courts and playgrounds. It is located one block south of Harding Way East via Third Avenue. Physical address is 1201 East Walnut Street.


South Park

South Park is home to a baseball and teeball field, along with tennis courts, a playground and a shelter that can be reserved for $25. The park is located at 751 South Boston Street.


PECO Park

PECO Park is the site of a quad field.  Both softball and baseball are played here, and there is a playground and a shelter that is available to reserve for $25. Physical address is 1321 Freese Works Place.


Cobey Park

Cobey Park is located on North Murray Street. It is a heavily wooded area surrounding a marsh. The shelter at Cobey is not currently being reserved pending roof repairs.


Amann Reservoir

Amann Reservoir is an in-ground reservoir with natural park settings to the north and south. It has abundant green space and hiking areas. A 24-hole disc golf course was installed in 2014 on the south side of Amann. Click here for the course mapDisc Golf Scene ranked the course the fifth best course in Ohio. It is also home to the cross country course for the Galion City Schools cross country program, which hosts the annual Cross Country Festival that averages 30,000 attendees. Amick Reservoir

Amick is an above ground reservoir located south of Amann. Fishing is permitted here and there are soccer nets to the east. Click here for a fishing map.



Powers Reservoir
