A grand opening ceremony was held Feb. 17 for the new Sleep Inn hotel, just shy of one year since ground was broken for the project. The lobby was full of representatives from the Galion-Crestline Area Chamber of Commerce; city, county and state elected officials; and local residents, who joined the hotel staff for the event.
Sleep Inn is located on the corner of State Route 598 and Brandt Road, just south of US 30. Construction began in mid-2016 and over the last few weeks crews were at the site finishing the interior. It features 62 guest rooms, a board room, and a swimming pool. The hotel also offers free shuttle service within a 30-mile radius.
The Galion site is the first Sleep Inn in the country with this particular design, which is stylish and contemporary. Winesburg Builders of Millersburg, Ohio, was the contractor for the $5.5 million project.
