City Councilwoman Sarah Capretta submitted her resignation from her seat on March 10. The resignation is effective immediately.
Council President Carl Watt said the news came as a surprise to him, but he had nothing but praise for Capretta. “She was doing a great job as a council member and also as chair of the Laws & Ordinances Committee. I hate to see her go but she has to do what she has to do.”
Watt also hoped Capretta continues her involvement in the Pickle Run festival. “She reactivated it and did a great job for the first year,” he added.
City Council is looking to fill the vacant seat quickly. Eligible candidates must live in the First Ward of Galion, which is the northwest corner of the city. (The area north of Harding Way West and west of North Market Street to the city limits on the north side of Galion New Winchester Road.)
Those interested in serving on City Council should submit a resume by March 24 at 4:00 p.m. Turn it in at the City Building, 301 Harding Way East, or email it to the Clerk of Council at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Council will hold a special meeting to conduct interviews. A date is to be announced.
