City Council discussed a new zoning district and a grant for the Galion Fire & EMS Department during its Feb. 12 meeting.
Ord. 2019-5 enacted a new zoning district in the city’s zoning code. R1-D Single Family Residential allows one-family detached dwellings and one-family manufactured homes.
The legislation states the purpose is “to provide a desirable environment for manufactured homes, protected from adverse neighboring influences, with adequate access for vehicular traffic and circulation. May also be used to accommodate areas with existing mobile homes or manufactured homes, and to encourage the renewal and revitalization of these residential areas.”

Ord. 2019-6 authorized a grant application through FEMA and the Department of Homeland Security. The grant amount is $25,000, including a five percent local match of $1,190.
