Multiple utility customers have reported receiving scam phone calls. In one case, the customer was told they were eligible for a $100 rebate on their electric bill and needed to provide their credit card information. In a separate case, the customer was told they needed to provide payment information over the phone in order to avoid being shut off.

In all cases, the caller did not identify what company they were associated with and the calls came from local numbers with a 419 area code. Callers were also reported as having foreign accents.

As a reminder, the Galion Utility Office NEVER requests a customer’s personal or payment information over the phone. We also identify ourselves if we do need to contact a customer. If you receive a suspicious call, please call the Utility Office at 419-468-6611.
