The Street Department will remove an old beech tree in Heise Park next week, as the work schedule permits.

The tree is rotting out and the base of the trunk is becoming hollow. It is located southwest of the Frank Shelter, in the heart of the park's green space.

Because of the tree's large size and proximity to the shelter and a swing set, the City decided it needs to be removed.
